One gets surprised by seeing the
differences and varieties of the nature. Supreme Being has
weaved the webs of materialism on one side and on the other
side our soul gets continuous messages that ask us to
fulfill our duties for which he has send us in this world.
This makes a person going nowhere. In this kind of situation
one needs the company of those great souls, who continuously
keep on putting the messages of the Supreme Being in our
ears through their conversations or through singing of
hymns. One such messenger of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee appeared
in this materialistic world on 13th Chetar in the Summat
1973 (March 26, 1916) in village Jhoraran, Dist. Ludhiana in
Punjab in the house of S. Bagha Singh Jee and Sardarni
Partap Kaur Jee by the name of Inder Singh. Later on his
name was changed to Ishar Singh by Sant Baba Nand Singh Jee.

Sant Baba Ishar Singh Jee came to take the shelter of the
lotus feet of Sant Baba Nand Singh Jee only at the age of
13. From that day onwards Baba Jee was ready all the time in
the service of Sant Baba Nand Singh Jee. Every one knows
that Sant Baba Nand Singh Jee was always staying in the
deserted places where ordinary people could not reach. But
Baba Jee was always ready on duty all the times to take
order from his Master and to perform whatever was asked to
do and didn't care to sleep or worry about his clothes or
body. Baba Jee performed an unusual service of his Master
remaining barefooted most of the times. Sant Baba Nand Singh
Jee sent Baba Jee to Sant Wadhawa Singh Jee of Lehra Gaga to
study the scriptures. After studying the scriptures Baba Jee
came back to stay under the cool shade of the lotus feet of
Sant Baba Nand Singh Jee. Baba Jee became the Hazuria (Lead)
Sewadar of Sant Baba Nand Singh Jee because of his love,
devotion and dedication.
Sant Baba Nand Singh Jee left for the heavenly abode on 13th
Badron in the Summat 2000 (August 29, 1943). Sant Baba Ishar
Singh Jee was unable to comprehend the loss of his Master
that he went to Dehradun and from there he came to Jhoraran.
He would seldom meet anybody and tears used to drop
continuously for 7 years. During this time, Nanaksar Kaleran
was held by some selfish people. After a few years, Sikh
Sangat (prominent followers) of various villages got
together and requested Sant Baba Ishar Singh Jee to take
charge of Nanaksar Kaleran. To this Baba Jee replied as and
when Almighty give permission I will take charge and
proceeded to Sri Hazur Sahib. Baba Jee stayed at Hazur Sahib
for about one month. From there Baba Jee came back to
Nanaksar Kaleran in the year 1950. Once Baba Jee reached
there the Sangat started visiting Nanaksar as the real
successor arrived there.
Baba Ishar Singh Jee called the Sewadars (volunteers) one
day after the Bhog (completion) of morning prayers and told
them to get ready to start the construction of Sarovar (pool
of Holy water). They all were of the opinion that it will
take at least one year to complete. Baba Jee told that he
has been instructed to release the water in it on the coming
Pooranmashi (Full Moon). Thus Baba Jee started its
construction on 13th Haar (the last week of June). Nanaksar
Sarovar was miraculously completed in record 28 days and
water was released into it on the Pooranmashi. .
Once due to very heavy rainfall, the Kacha construction at
Nanaksar was razed to ground. The underground Kacha rooms
where Baba Nand Singh Jee used to meditate was flooded. The
whole area was flooded. When the water receded, Baba Ishar
Singh Jee directed that malba (debris) to be removed to lay
the foundation for the sacred Gurdwara which will be known
as Nanaksar Kaleran. Baba Ishar Singh Jee laid the
foundation at this place on Sangrand (first day of the
month) of Chet in Summat 2008. A large number of Sangat
(followers) including carpenters, masons, and blacksmiths
came to do the free sewa (volunteer service). Engineers and
other experts came from all over to look after the design.
Golden Kalas, which is 39 feet round and 13 feet high, was
constructed by specially trained persons. Baba Jee fully
followed the Maryada (the entire system of worship as
prescribed by Sant Baba Nand Singh Jee) after coming to
Nanaksar.
Baba Ishar Singh Jee not only followed the food steps of
Baba Nand Singh Jee by continuing with the Kirtan and Akhand
Path (continous recital) of Sri Sukhmani Sahib, but also
started the Sri Sampat Akhand Paths (continous recital by
reciting Mool Mantar and a special hymn at the start of each
hymn) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee. Baba Jee also started
the Nitnem (daily ritual) of Kirtan at many other Gurdwaras
situated at Jhoraran, Bhadaur, Barnala, Barundi, Samadh
Bhai, Dehradun and Seerah. The most important addition was
the administration of Amrit on large scale. A lot of
Bihangams (Monks) started living at Nanaksar permanently and
they took over the duty of Kirtan in the morning and
evening. Many renowned Ragiis felt blessed by visiting
Nanaksar and doing Kirtan. Baba Jee started holding the
mighty large Deewan (congregation) on Pooranmashi. Many
times, Baba Jee held five Deewans (congregations) in one day
in different villages. Baba Jee took this mission to all
over India by visiting important cities in India. Baba Jee’s
directive of the administration of Amrit was a must at all
the places. Baba Ishar Singh Jee became instrumental in
partaking of Amrit to hundred of thousands of persons. Baba
Jee always stressed the message of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee of
Universal Brotherhood and told the people to worship Sri
Guru Granth Sahib Jee as Living Divinity (Sri Guru Nanak Dev
Jee) and follow its teachings in order to gain liberation
from the clutches of their physical and emotional
sufferings.
Baba Ishar Singh Jee visited Saproon (Shimla) in September
1963 and stayed for one night at Pinjore before proceeding
to Nanaksar. Baba Jee did address the congregation in the
Deewan of Pooranmashi on October 3, 1963. Baba Jee gave
indication that he would have to leave for heavenly abode
soon but unfortunately no one was able to believe Baba Jee’s
words. On October 6, 1963 after the Ardas (prayers) of Path
of Sri Rehras Sahib, Baba Ishar Singh Jee left this world
and reached the house of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Jee in twinkling
of an eye leaving the world weeping.
Baba Ishar Singh Jee carried out the mission of preaching
the love for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee for 13 years and
bestowed the responsibilities of continuation of the mission
to Baba Gurdev Singh Jee, who at present is fulfilling those
responsibilities and has been instrumental in establishing
17 new Nanaksar Gurdwaras both in India as well as abroad
where millions serve and worship Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee
in the beacon light shown by the towering Light House, Baba
Nand Singh Jee.
