Poojniya Baba Gurdev Singh Jee came to Nairobi with Ragi Jatha (Group of Monks) for the first time in 1969 and took a tour of Kenya. He visited Kenya several time with Ragi Jatha on the request of Sangat of Kenya. In 1986, the Jatha stayed at Gurdwara Ramgarhia in Landia. In 1987 a permanent Ragi Jatha started Kirtan in the house of Sewadar and Kirtan continued at this house till 1990. In the meanwhile, the land was purchased for the Gurdwara and foundation was laid out on August 20, 1989 and Mahurat (inauguration) of the new Gurdwara took place on September 16, 1990. A charitable dispensary was added to the institution in May 1994 and a doctor from India sees the patients every day. Pooranmashi is celebrated at this place every month in the evening when the Sangat from all over Kenya gather at this place to attend the Bhog of Sri Sampat Akhand of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee and listen to Katha and Kirtan.
